Danish Strawberries
What’s more synonymous with Danish summer than strawberries and ice cream? When Kastbergs makes strawberry ice cream, it’s 100% Danish strawberries from Samsø. Danish strawberries have a very strong flavor, and one reason for this is that they grow slower in Denmark than in warmer climates, which contributes to their extra intense taste. The strawberries we use are of the Honeoye variety, chosen for a very special reason. They are not only flavorful but also have a very deep red color. The color is so intense that it is often not considered ideal for supermarkets, as consumers mistakenly think they are overripe. However, this deep color is perfect for use in ice cream, as it gives our strawberry sorbet and ice cream a beautiful, natural color. We do not add any artificial color to our ice creams or sorbets.

In addition to strawberries, our ice cream also includes fresh milk and cream from the local Them Andelsmejeri, which provides all the milk for Kastbergs ice cream production.
